The Ministry of Finance issued on Thursday an explanatory office memorandum regarding pension rules.
According to details, the retired government employees residing abroad are seeking their pensions in foreign currency. The ministry had clarified that overseas pensioners are not allowed to receive payments in foreign exchange.
The ministry highlighted that several pensioners have been striving to obtain their pensions in foreign currency. However, the current state of the current account does not permit the government to grant this request.
"Only employees who were appointed before 1959 are eligible to receive their pensions in foreign exchange," the ministry stated.
Furthermore, the Ministry clarified that employees recruited after January 2, 1959, are not entitled to this facility.
