The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) on Tuesday called for the transparent polls.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi flanked by GDA general secretary Dr Safdar Abbasi, MQM-P bigwig Farooq Sattar said: ‘’There is a dire need to provide level playing field to all the political parties to ensure transparent general elections.’’
''Despite the fact that the Sindh chief minister has been changed, corruption still prevails in the province. If the situation remains the same, the corrupt mafia will continue to dominate across the province,’’ he rued.
Sattar said, ’’We want to save the interim chief minister. His neutrality has been compromised. The caretaker chief minister’s biassed character is being exposed’’.
Meanwhile, expressing his thoughts, Safdar Abbasi took a swipe at the Sindh interim chief minister. He equated the Chief Minister House with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Secretariat.

‘’The interim chief minister has not been appointed by the PPP. If the opposition had not shown confidence in you [interim chief minister], you would not be elected as the chief minister,’’ Abbasi maintained.
The system cannot be run the way it is being operated. There is a dire need to bring about change in the system.
He urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold transparent elections. ‘’ If the transparent polls are not held, then it will be controversy.
Abbasi stressed the need for debarring the provincial election commissioner from the latter’s post, asserting, ‘’Oher wise, transparent elections will not be held in the province’’.
