Two Pakistani military officers, Captain Ghulam Murtaza and Major Aman Ullah, were martyred on September 3, 1965, during intense fighting against Indian forces.
Captain Ghulam Murtaza, attached to the Light Aid Detachment of the Pakistan Army, was tasked with repairing damaged tanks for the Armored Regiment. The unit's objective was to capture Jaurian in the Chhamb sector, with Akhnur as the ultimate goal. While advancing towards Jaurian, they encountered heavy resistance from Indian infantry and artillery.
During the battle, Captain Murtaza rushed to assist a Pakistani tank hit by enemy fire. He was critically wounded by machine gun fire and succumbed to his injuries on September 3, 1965.
Major Aman Ullah, from the Azad Kashmir Regiment, led his company in an assault against enemy positions. After fierce fighting, they successfully captured Lalial and Dewa. Major Aman Ullah was martyred during the night between September 3 and 4, 1965.
These events occurred on the third day of the war that India initiated against Pakistan in September 1965.
