King Charles III - currently undergoing cancer treatment - has reportedly intervened in the ongoing feud between his two sons, Prince William, the Prince of Wales, and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, issuing a heartfelt plea for reconciliation.
The 75-year-old monarch, who has been deeply affected by the longstanding rift, is said to have been moved to step in during a particularly tense argument between the brothers.
The disagreement reportedly took place during a walk around Windsor estate following the funeral of their grandfather, Prince Philip, in the spring of 2021.
Prince Harry, who relocated to the United States after stepping back from royal duties in 2020, recounted the incident in his memoir Spare. The Duke of Sussex, who will be celebrating his 40th birthday next week, described the emotional intensity of the exchange with his elder brother.
"I tried to explain my side of things," Harry wrote, recalling how he struggled to keep his emotions in check during the conversation. Despite his efforts, the discussion escalated, with Prince William allegedly "shutting [him] down several times."
The exchange became so heated that King Charles felt compelled to intervene.
According to Harry, the King raised his hands in a bid to quell the tension, issuing a poignant plea to his sons: "Please, boys—don't make my final years a misery." The monarch's words, marked by a tone of vulnerability, reflect the emotional toll the family feud has taken on him.
The release of Harry's memoir earlier this year has only deepened the divide between the brothers, as it contains several revelations about his experiences within the royal family.
Despite efforts to mediate, the relationship between the Princes remains strained, casting a shadow over the monarchy's public image.
