Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has categorically denied any interest in extending his tenure, even if an extension were to be offered to all judges.
His remarks came during an informal conversation with journalists, where he addressed rumours and clarified his stance on several key issues.
A journalist asked the CJP to respond to comments made by the prime minister's adviser Rana Sanaullah, who reportedly asked if he would also seek an extension if the retirement age of all judges was extended. Justice Isa firmly stated, "Bring Rana Sanaullah before me."
He further clarified that there had been a meeting involving Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, and the attorney general for Pakistan, but Rana Sanaullah was not present in that discussion.

CJP Isa mentioned that there were talks about extending the tenure of all chief justices, but he had made it clear that he would not accept an extension for himself, even if it were granted to others.
"I said, do it for others; I will not accept it only for myself," he reiterated, adding that he doesn't know whether he will be alive tomorrow or not.
The chief justice was also questioned about the pending scheduling of the hearing related to the letter from six judges. In response, CJP Isa explained that the decision to schedule the matter rests with a committee, and that Justice Mussarat Hilali's illness had prevented the formation of the bench necessary for the case.
