Globally acclaim star Taylor Swift took center stage once again at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), collecting a record seven awards, including the coveted Video of the Year trophy.
Swift’s winning streak continues, bringing her total career wins to 30, tying her with Beyoncé for the most VMAs by any artist in history.
During her acceptance speech on Wednesday night, Swift gave a heartfelt thanks to her “boyfriend, Travis,” referring to NFL star Travis Kelce, for supporting her during the filming of the “Fortnight” music video.
The mention of Kelce ignited cheers from the audience. “Everything this man touches turns to happiness, fun, and magic,” Swift added.
She then turned the spotlight to the upcoming 2024 presidential election, encouraging her fans over 18 to register to vote, though she refrained from directly addressing Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, despite having endorsed the vice president following her debate with Donald Trump on Tuesday.
Swift’s seven wins of the evening put her on par with Beyoncé’s record, cementing her legacy as one of the most celebrated musicians in VMAs history.
On the male side, Eminem holds the record with 14 awards.
Swift and Post Malone also won Best Collaboration for their work on “Fortnight,” with the award presented by Flavor Flav and Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles.
