During a conversation outside Parliament House, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif dismissed talks of imposing governor's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
He labeled such discussions as misguided, emphasizing that the chief minister's meetings with foreign dignitaries, such as consul generals, fall within his discretion and CMs from various provinces meet ambassadors; it’s a normal practice," the defense minister stated.
Asif warned that if the KP Chief Minister took independent actions that breach federal guidelines, it would be considered a violation of his powers. He also criticized PTI for bringing personal grievances into political committees, saying, "They did the same thing in Parliament, and I reminded them to reflect on their four years of governance."
Fazlur Rehman comments on governor rule
JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman also commented on the situation in KP. Addressing questions about the possibility of Governor's Rule, he rejected such claims, saying there are no grounds for it.
He admitted that the law and order situation in various districts of the province remains concerning. "The conditions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are not ideal, but does the governor have the ability to control the situation?" Rehman questioned.
Rehman also dismissed Ali Amin Gandapur's statements advocating for direct peace talks with Afghanistan as "emotional" and disconnected from reality, stating, "These are sentimental remarks with no basis in the real world."
He further discussed his proposed reforms related to constitutional amendments, though details were not provided.
