Pakistan Foreign Office Monday has firmly rejected the explanation provided by the Afghan Consul General for failing to stand in respect during the playing of the national anthem.
At a weekly media briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch expressed strong disapproval, stating that such actions constitute a violation of diplomatic protocol.
"We have registered our full protest on this matter," Baloch said, emphasizing that desecration of the national anthem of a host country goes against diplomatic etiquette.
Afghan Consul General, Hafeez Mohibullah Shakir, currently holds diplomatic status in Pakistan under a Pakistani visa.
Baloch also confirmed that there is no scheduled meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the upcoming UN meeting.
