The Punjab government had declared a holiday for all public and private colleges and universities. This decision comes in response to potential student protests regarding alleged fake news about a case of sexual assault at a private college.
The Punjab Higher Education Department issued a notification confirming that all educational institutions will remain closed on October 18 across the province.
According to the notification, the holiday was announced to prevent any unrest among students, following instructions from the Punjab Home Department to ensure the safety and security of educational institutions.
