In recognition of its exceptional humanitarian services both domestically and internationally, Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan has been honoured with the prestigious Human Rights Award by the Human Rights Society of Pakistan.
The award was received by Alkhidmat Foundation’s Vice President, Muhammad Abdus Shakoor, accompanied by Senior Manager of Media Relations, Shoaib Hashmi.
The award ceremony, held at a local hotel in Lahore, marked the 40th S.M. Zafar Human Rights Awards. These awards celebrate outstanding achievements in humanitarian work, human rights advocacy, literature, and journalism.
Along with Alkhidmat Foundation, the renowned poet Shakir Shujaabadi was honoured for his contributions to literature, and the late journalist Arshad Sharif was posthumously awarded for his services in journalism, received by his wife Javeria Siddique.
The event was attended by prominent figures, including Syed Asim Zafar, President of the Human Rights Society of Pakistan; Alexander John Malik, Vice President; M.A. Shakoori, Secretary General; Shehzad Shaukat, President of the Supreme Court Bar Association; senior journalist Suhail Warraich; and Mian Abu Zar, President of the Chamber of Commerce. The attendees praised the contributions of Alkhidmat Foundation and lauded its dedication to humanitarian causes.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Abdus Shakoor expressed his gratitude to the Human Rights Society of Pakistan and paid tribute to the legal icon and founder of the award, S.M. Zafar. He highlighted Alkhidmat Foundation’s non-discriminatory approach to serving humanity, emphasizing the organization's efforts during natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and the COVID-19 pandemic. He further acknowledged the dedication of Alkhidmat’s volunteers, stating, "Our volunteers are our true assets, risking their lives to protect others."
He also referenced Alkhidmat Foundation’s recent contributions in Türkiye, where the foundation provided relief services during the earthquake under the invitation of the Turkish government. He noted that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had awarded Alkhidmat with a Medal of Excellence for its exceptional work.
This recognition further solidifies Alkhidmat Foundation’s role as a leading humanitarian organization committed to serving people in need, irrespective of race, religion, or nationality.
