During a recent Supreme Court hearing, a petitioner expressed his desire for the most senior judge, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, to remain on Bench I.
During the hearing of a case related to apartment allotment in Sector G-10 of Islamabad, petitioner Khushdil Khan Malik expressed a desire for Justice Shah to remain on Bench I. In response, the judge remarked, "Whatever Allah wills will happen."
Following the exchange, the court adjourned the hearing for two weeks and summoned the relevant records from the PHA MD.

This exchange comes at a time when the newly formed 12-member special parliamentary committee will convene today to finalize the name of the new chief justice of Pakistan.
The meeting, scheduled for 4pm, will consider the names of the three most senior judges of the Supreme Court, while Justice Shah is the most senior judge of the Supreme Court right now. The decision is supposed to be reached by a two-thirds majority and will then be forwarded to the prime minister for approval.
