Renowned Pakistani actress Asma Abbas - celebrated for her compelling performances in various television dramas, - recently offered valuable marriage advice to the younger generation during an appearance on a podcast.
Known for her roles in popular dramas such as Dumpukht, Akbari Asghari, and the recently acclaimed Mann Jogi, Abbas's words resonate deeply in today's evolving societal landscape.
In her candid discussion, Asma stressed the importance of setting boundaries and recognising both the strengths and weaknesses of a partner before making a lifelong commitment.
“You should take a decision wisely,” she advised.
“How many marriages will you go through if you leave a spouse over minor drawbacks? Acknowledge the positive qualities of your spouse. The next spouse could be worse than the previous one.”
Highlighting the reality of modern relationships, Abbas noted that perfection is an unrealistic expectation. “Nothing is perfect,” she stated. She reflected on the changes in communication styles, urging young women to approach discussions with their partners more thoughtfully.
“In our time, we used to sugarcoat our conversations with our husbands. Nowadays, girls are clever and often resort to harsh words. It’s important to talk to your spouse after calming down.”
Abbas also addressed the critical issue of abuse in relationships, advising women to prioritize their safety. “Men can be rude and abusive. I tell girls, if your husband hits you and abuses you, there is no looking back.”
