US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Bloom visited the Orangi area of Karachi, where he announced significant health support initiatives, including the donation of five mobile tuberculosis (TB) vans and three X-ray machines to Qatar Hospital.
The equipment aims to enhance TB diagnosis and treatment in remote areas of Sindh.
During his address to the media, Ambassador Bloom emphasized the US commitment to eradicating polio in Pakistan, noting that the country continues to face challenges with emerging polio cases. He highlighted that all possible support is being extended to bolster efforts against polio, as well as to address health issues that have arisen following recent floods in the region.
Ambassador Bloom also mentioned that over twenty X-ray machines will be provided within the next year, reinforcing the US commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure in Pakistan. He acknowledged ongoing programs aimed at training medical personnel and assured that transparency remains a top priority in all projects.
In a statement about the collaborative efforts, Sindh Provincial Health Minister Dr. Ezra Pechuho praised the enduring Pakistan-US friendship, expressing gratitude for the American support in the health sector. The minister acknowledged the essential role of those working in healthcare, noting that their efforts are commendable in addressing pressing health challenges.
