Apple is set to introduce its highly anticipated generative AI platform, Apple Intelligence, next week.
The public rollout will accompany the release of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1. While Apple hasn’t confirmed an exact date, most sources expect the updates to arrive on Monday.
Apple Intelligence has been available to developers testing beta versions of the operating systems, offering tools like writing assistants, image enhancement, article summaries, and an enhanced Siri experience with AI typing input.
Next week’s release will bring these features to the public, with users also able to experience new AI-driven updates like Genmoji, Image Playground, Visual Intelligence, Image Wand, and even ChatGPT integration.
However, due to hardware requirements, only select devices will support Apple Intelligence. Compatible devices include the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, all iPhone 16 models, iPads with A17 Pro chips or M1 and later, and Macs with M1 chips or newer.
To access Apple Intelligence, users need to install the software update and opt-in via Settings or during setup. Apple will then place users on a brief waitlist, which is expected to process most requests within hours. The waitlist helps manage server load, as some AI tasks require off-device processing.
