Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz led a solemn ceremony in Lahore on Kashmir Solidarity Day, reaffirming Pakistan's unwavering support for the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination.
The event, held at Liberty Chowk, featured a candle-lighting ceremony, a tribute to martyrs, and a special photo exhibition highlighting the ongoing plight of Kashmiris.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz laid flowers in memory of the martyrs and prayed for those who sacrificed their lives in the fight against oppression. Addressing the attendees, she emphasized, “Our hearts beat with Kashmiris. I pray for the day when the slogan ‘Kashmir Banega Pakistan’ becomes a reality.”
Maryam Nawaz was accompanied by prominent political figures, including Aun Chaudhry, Shoaib Siddiqui, Rana Sikander, Uzma Bukhari, and Sania Ashiq, who all showed solidarity with the Kashmiri cause.
While responding to questions from the media, the CM remarked that the people of Punjab had rejected calls for protests, stating, “It is a matter of happiness that the politics of vandalism and arson has ended.” When asked about the letter from the PTI founder, she noted that while she was eager to respond, “Today, it’s all about Kashmir.”
Maryam Nawaz also touched on local governance issues, mentioning the increasing population and the shrinking road infrastructure in the province. She stressed the necessity of an operation against encroachments to address these challenges.
The event concluded with a message of unity and hope for the people of Kashmir, with Maryam Nawaz praying for the martyrs' elevated ranks and expressing optimism for a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir conflict.
