A heated exchange took place on social media between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), with both sides engaging in a war of words.
PTI’s official X (formerly Twitter) account posted a strong criticism of the Election Commission, accusing it of conducting unfair elections and depriving the people of their mandate.
In its post, PTI directly blamed Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, alleging that he colluded with former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and committed "treachery" against the nation. The post claimed that the elections were manipulated to benefit certain political factions.
Responding swiftly, the ECP spokesperson replied directly under the same post, stating that during PTI’s government, all institutions were aligned and facilitated each other, but the Election Commission neither acted as a facilitator back then, nor does it now.
This rare direct confrontation on social media between a political party and the Election Commission has sparked widespread debate, further intensifying political tensions in the country.
