Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir arrived in the United Kingdom on Wednesday to participate in the 7th Regional Stabilisation Conference, where he is set to deliver a keynote address on "The Emerging World Order and Pakistan’s Future Outlook."
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the conference serves as a key platform for high-level military dialogue between Pakistan and the UK, bringing together policymakers, military officials, and strategic experts to discuss regional and global security challenges.
Upon his arrival, General Munir was accorded a formal reception, including a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the historic Royal Horse Guards Parade Ground.
Senior UK military officials and dignitaries were present to welcome the Pakistani army chief.
Key engagements
During his visit, the COAS will hold discussions with senior UK officials, including Admiral Tony Radakin, Chief of Defence Staff UK, and General Sir Roland Walker, Chief of the General Staff of the British Army.
He is also scheduled to meet Jonathan Powell, the UK’s National Security Advisor, and Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, with whom he is expected to discuss shared security challenges and avenues for greater bilateral cooperation.
The visit comes at a time of shifting global geopolitical alignments, with the conference offering an opportunity for both nations to exchange perspectives on evolving security dynamics.
Military cooperation
Pakistan and the UK share longstanding military ties, particularly in counterterrorism operations and professional training programs.
As part of his engagements, General Munir will visit key British military installations, including the Land Warfare Centre and the 1st Strike Brigade, where he will be briefed on the UK Army’s modernization efforts.
