Hira Mani, known for her dynamic performances in Do Bol, Mere Paas Tum Ho, and Dil Moum Ka Diya, is under fire for comparing herself to Bollywood superstar Kareena Kapoor.
The actress, who recently appeared in Sunn Mere Dil and Jaan Se Pyara Juni, is currently starring in Dayan.
In a recent interview, Hira expressed her admiration for Kareena Kapoor and stated that Geet, the iconic character from Jab We Met, shares striking similarities with her real-life personality. When Indian journalist Faridoon Shahryar suggested that she could have been a part of the film, Hira enthusiastically agreed, saying:
"Yes! My Khala called me right after Jab We Met was released and said, ‘This movie is made on your character!’ I remember watching it with my family and feeling the same. I think Imtiaz Ali must have met me—that’s why he wrote it.” Her remarks instantly went viral, sparking mixed reactions online.
Hira’s statement has triggered widespread criticism, with netizens calling her out for exaggeration. One social media user mocked, “She is a slow-cooked Kareena Kapoor.” Another wrote, “She tries too hard, but the original is always original.”
Some users dismissed her claim as a publicity stunt. A critic commented, “This is a fabricated story. She knows her Khala never said this.” Another added, “The anchor knew exactly how to extract content from her—he pushed the right button.”
Comparisons to Indian actress Urvashi Rautela, known for making self-aggrandizing claims, also surfaced. “Hira Mani is Pakistan’s Urvashi Rautela,” a user remarked.
Despite the backlash, Hira Mani has not responded to the criticism. However, the controversy has once again put her in the spotlight, proving that her statements never fail to generate buzz.
