Pakistani television actor Komal Meer has responded to ongoing speculation about cosmetic surgeries and addressed criticism regarding her physical appearance, particularly her recent weight gain.
The actor, known for her roles in Ehd-e-Wafa, Badshah Begum, Qalandar and most recently Ae Dil , appeared on a podcast, where she candidly discussed public scrutiny over her evolving looks.
In recent months, fans have observed a visible change in Meer’s appearance, sparking online chatter and assumptions that she may have undergone cosmetic procedures. Reacting to the speculation, the actor denied any surgical enhancements.
“I think everyone is having cosmetic procedures now — normal people are having more than celebrities,” she remarked. “I go for facials, and I get shocked to see housewives at aesthetic clinics with hefty bills. But I haven’t done anything like this. I swear. People are noticing my cheeks but they’re ignoring my double chin.”
During the podcast, Meer also opened up about her struggle with fat-shaming and the criticism she received after gaining weight.
“I don’t know why people fat-shamed me. When I was skinny, they still criticised me. I’ve only gained six kilograms,” she said. “It was for a drama role that is now delayed. I took that character as motivation and started eating more. I’ve been underweight my whole life, and people constantly told me to gain weight.”
The actor expressed frustration at the online trolling and offered a sharp response to critics.
“I want to give a message to my trolls — don’t be jealous of my weight gain. Let me breathe. I will go to the gym and tone my body. Just wait. And for those asking for my diet plan, please wait, I’ll share it soon.”
Meer’s remarks have sparked a wider conversation online, with many fans and fellow celebrities expressing solidarity and calling for greater empathy regarding body image and the pressures faced by public figures.
Komal Meer began her acting career with Resham Gali Ki Husna Rani and quickly rose to prominence with notable performances across multiple drama serials. Her appearance in Ehd-e-Wafa, in particular, earned her widespread recognition.
