Popular YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia has appeared before Indian police’s crime unit amid an ongoing legal probe into the show India’s Got Latent.
The controversy erupted after a First Information Report (FIR) was filed against several high-profile influencers over allegations of promoting obscene and indecent content.
Who else is involved?
The FIR names multiple YouTubers, including:
- Ashish Chanchlani
- Jaspreet Singh
- Apoorva Makhija
- Samay Raina
Authorities have accused them of indecent representation of women and obscene conduct under Cyber PS case no. 03/2025.
Legal escalation & NCW involvement
On March 6, several influencers, including Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani, appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) in Delhi. The show’s producers, Saurabh Bothra and Tushar Poojari, also provided statements before the commission.
Influencers respond
- Ashish Chanchlani took to Instagram, thanking fans for their overwhelming support and promising a return to content creation soon.
- Ranveer Allahbadia issued a public apology on X (Twitter), stating:
“My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry.”
Court’s decision
In a partial relief, the Supreme Court allowed Ranveer Allahbadia to continue his podcast, The Ranveer Show—but with strict conditions on decency and morality.
Authorities are still investigating the allegations, and further legal action may follow.
