Lahore police have arrested a seven-member gang, including two police officers and three women, for their involvement in honey trap schemes.
The Kot Lakhpat police conducted the operation, exposing a group that lured victims through social media before robbing and torturing them.
According to Model Town Superintendent of Police Akhlaqullah Tarar, the gang leader would upload objectionable pictures of women on social media, along with a contact number, to attract potential victims. Once a person responded, a woman from the gang would feign friendship and invite them to a meeting at a flat.
During the meeting, the corrupt police officers, along with their accomplices, would stage a fake raid, physically assault the victim, and extort money. The SP confirmed that a woman polio worker was also a part of the gang and among those arrested.
He further said the police have retrieved several indecent videos from the suspects' mobile phones. A case has been registered against the accused under various charges, including kidnapping, torture, and extortion.
