A Bell 212 helicopter, registered as A6-ALD and owned by Aerogulf, crashed into the Gulf sea during a night training mission, the Air Accident Investigation Sector at the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) stated.
According to details, the authorities received a report of a helicopter crash off UAE coasts on Thursday, 7th September 2023, at around 8:30 p.m.
The ill-fated chopper took off from Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai and was on a night training flight.
The two pilots onboard hailed from Egyptian and South African nationalities, according to a statement released by GCAA.
Efforts to locate the missing crew members have been ongoing since the crash occurred. However, the search and rescue teams have successfully recovered the wreckage of the helicopter.
The GCAA has not released any information regarding their current status.
The investigation into the crash is already underway, with the GCAA's Air Accident Investigation Sector leading the efforts.
