Apple’s next-generation iPhone 17 lineup is already making waves ahead of its expected launch in September 2025.
This year, Apple is reportedly dropping the ‘Plus’ model in favour of an all-new iPhone 17 Air, alongside the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max.
Design & display enhancements
The biggest design shift comes with the iPhone 17 Air, which is rumored to be Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever, measuring between 5mm and 6.25mm in thickness. The 6.6-inch display places it between the Pro and Pro Max models in size.
The standard iPhone 17 will resemble its predecessor but with an improved anti-reflective, scratch-resistant display. Meanwhile, the Pro models may switch from a titanium frame to aluminum, featuring a part-aluminum, part-glass back.
All models are expected to feature ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate and an Always-On display, previously exclusive to Pro models.
Performance & battery life
Apple will introduce the A19 chip in the iPhone 17 and 17 Air, while the Pro models will get the A19 Pro, ensuring higher performance. RAM will increase to 12GB in Pro models, while the standard and Air versions will come with 8GB RAM.
All models will feature a more repair-friendly battery design and support 35W fast charging.
Camera upgrades
The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will debut three 48MP cameras, featuring Wide, Ultra-Wide, and Telephoto lenses. The iPhone 17 and 17 Air will come with a 48MP primary camera, offering significant improvements in photo quality.
Expected pricing
Apple is likely to keep pricing in line with previous generations:
- iPhone 17—$799
- iPhone 17 Air—$899
- iPhone 17 Pro—$999
- iPhone 17 Pro Max—$1,199
Launch timeline
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 lineup between September 11-13, 2025. With a new model, major design changes, and performance enhancements, this could be one of Apple’s biggest launches in recent years.
