The United States has barred a senior Pakistani diplomat from entering the country, diplomatic sources revealed on Monday.
According to sources, Pakistani Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ahsan Wagan was denied entry by US immigration officials upon his arrival at Los Angeles International Airport during a private visit.
The decision to deny him entry is reportedly linked to allegations of administrative corruption that surfaced during his previous posting in the US. Based on these complaints, American authorities refused to allow the diplomat into the country, sources claimed.
Ahsan Wagan is currently serving as Pakistan’s ambassador to Turkmenistan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has yet to issue an official statement regarding the matter. However, diplomatic circles indicate that the incident is under investigation.
