Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir delivered a powerful address to the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (NSC), stressing that national security is above all agendas, movements, and personalities.
He reiterated the need for better governance, a unified national stance, and the elimination of terrorism in all its forms.
General Munir underscored the importance of making Pakistan a "hard state" -- one that is stable, secure, and uncompromising in its national interests.
"For sustainable development, all elements of national power must work in harmony. This is a battle for our survival and that of future generations," he stated.
He warned against Pakistan remaining a "soft state", questioning how long governance gaps would continue to be filled with the blood of the armed forces and martyrs.
The army chief urged religious scholars to expose the distorted interpretations of Islam propagated by extremist groups like the Khawarij. He emphasized that Pakistan's security is paramount, stating: "If this country exists, then we exist -- nothing is more important than its security."
General Munir called for a unified national narrative that goes beyond political and personal interests to protect Pakistan. He sent a strong message to those who believe they can destabilize the country through terrorism: "To those who think they can weaken Pakistan through terrorists -- today, we send them a message: we will unite and not only defeat them but also their facilitators."
Reaffirming faith in Pakistan’s resilience, he declared: "We have full faith in Allah Almighty. Whatever happens, Insha Allah, we will succeed."
