The Pakistan International Airlines PIA spokesperson expressed on Sunday optimism that continuous communication with the authorities will lead to the full restoration of flight operations by the evening.
The conflict regarding the fuel supply between PIA and Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has intensified on Sunday.
PIA is currently facing a shortage of fuel, which is significantly affecting its flight operations. PSO has alleged that PIA has not received the fuel supply as specified in their agreement.
As per a PIA representative, out of the 52 scheduled international flights on October 21, only 4 were able to operate.
Furthermore, among the 29 flights planned for Sunday and Monday, only one flight was conducted for domestic routes, including destinations like China, Kuala Lumpur, Canada, and Istanbul.
The PIA spokesperson mentioned that the reason for non-payment on Sunday was due to the disruption of operations. PIA did make a payment of Rs220million to PSO the previous day.
On the contrary, PSO has refuted PIA's claim of suspending fuel supply. The PSO has stated that it has indeed supplied fuel to 24 flights from Saturday night onward.
PIA has made a payment of Rs220million for the flights scheduled on Sunday and Monday, and the remaining amount for fuel to be supplied to PIA flights will be provided as per their agreement.
