Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi surprised his fans with an official announcement of the much-anticipated sequel to his 2007 action thriller Awarapan on his birthday.
The film, titled Awarapan 2, is scheduled for a grand theatrical release on April 3, 2026.
Taking to social media, Emraan shared the news with a nostalgic caption, “Bas mujhe kuch aur der zinda rakh… #Awarapan2 in cinemas, 3rd April 2026.”
The original Awarapan, directed by Mohit Suri, became a fan favourite for its intense storyline, action-packed sequences, and soul-stirring music. It was an uncredited remake of the South Korean film A Bittersweet Life and featured Emraan Hashmi, Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma, and Ashutosh Rana.
The sequel, directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqui, aims to carry forward Shivam’s gripping story, promising the same intensity, emotions, and iconic soundtrack that made Awarapan a cult classic. Produced by Vishesh Bhatt under Vishesh Films, the film marks Emraan’s reunion with the production house, known for delivering hits like Jannat, Murder, Raaz, Gangster, and Hamari Adhuri Kahani.
While details about the plot remain under wraps, the sequel is expected to delve deeper into Shivam’s journey, his redemption arc, and a new thrilling conflict. Currently in pre-production, the film is set to begin shooting soon.
Emraan was last seen as the antagonist Aatish Rehman in Tiger 3 (2023), alongside Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. The film was part of the YRF Spy Universe, following Ek Tha Tiger and Tiger Zinda Hai.
With Awarapan 2 officially in the works, fans eagerly await Emraan Hashmi’s return in one of his most iconic roles.
