Comedian Samay Raina has finally addressed the controversy surrounding his show India’s Got Latent after appearing before the Maharashtra Cyber Cell on March 24.
Following three summons, Raina issued a public statement expressing deep regret over his remarks and revealed that the ongoing case has severely impacted his mental health.
According to News18, Raina admitted that his comments were made in the heat of the moment and were not intentional. He stated, "I feel deep regret for what I said. It happened in the flow of the show, and I had no intention of saying it. I realize that what I said was wrong."
Raina assured the authorities that he would exercise greater caution in the future to prevent similar incidents. He further disclosed how the controversy has affected both his personal and professional life, sharing, "My mental state is not well due to this whole case. My Canada tour also did not go well. I am sorry for what I said; I know what I said is wrong."
The ongoing legal issues have also disrupted his upcoming India tour, which has now been postponed. Despite sold-out tickets, Raina confirmed that all customers will receive refunds.
After failing to appear before the Maharashtra Cyber Cell on March 19, Raina had requested to record his statement via video conferencing, which was denied. Subsequently, he was summoned to appear on March 24, when he finally recorded his statement in Navi Mumbai.
As the legal proceedings continue, the controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent remains a major topic of discussion, raising concerns over content regulation in India’s digital entertainment space.
