The streets of Karachi had been bustling with shoppers preparing for the festive occasion, with Eid-Al-Fitr just around the corner.
The city's markets, particularly in the famous Saddar's Cooperative Market, had seen a surge in activity as women and children flocked to purchase new clothes, sandals, and jewellery.
One of the buyers explained, "I have bought clothes for my children, and now it's time for sandals." Another shopper added, "I have already bought outfits for all three days of Eid, but bangles are still pending."
Many had expressed frustration at the rising prices. A woman remarked, "Inflation has been much higher this year compared to last."
Meanwhile, men had been feeling the pressure as well. The increase in prices had left them concerned, particularly with tailors refusing to take on more orders. The importance of tailors in the Saddar market had soared as demand for their services surged.
According to tailors in the area, the prices for stitching had risen due to inflation. For adults, the stitching cost per suit had ranged from Rs1,500 to Rs1,800, while children's suits had been priced between Rs1,000 and Rs1,300.
