An Indian Air Force Jaguar fighter jet crashed in the Jamnagar region of Gujarat, according to Indian sources.
The incident, which occurred on April 2, 2025, was attributed to a technical fault. This is not the first such incident, as aircraft crashes have become a routine occurrence within the Indian Air Force.
In addition to the crash in Gujarat, an Indian Air Force single-engine aircraft also met a similar fate near Ucharpi village, close to Mehsana city, earlier the same day. The jet went down due to technical issues.
The previous month witnessed another alarming event when two Indian Air Force jets, including a Jaguar fighter jet, crashed on the same day.
Similarly, in November 2024, a MiG-29 fighter jet crashed near Agra in Uttar Pradesh.
Defence experts have raised serious concerns regarding the operational readiness and safety standards of the Indian Air Force.
"The aircraft accidents pose grave questions about the operational preparedness and safety standards of the Indian Air Force," said one expert.
Further commentary from defence analysts pointed to systemic issues within the Indian military, with one expert stating, "Due to Modi's flawed policies, India's defence system has become hollow."
Another added, "The Indian Air Force is deteriorating with each passing day due to the failure of Modi’s government’s policies and corruption. Promises of improving defence under Modi are nothing but empty words."
