President Asif Ali Zardari - who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Karachi - is reported to be showing signs of gradual improvement, according to his physician, Dr Asim Hussain.
However, the ban on meetings with the president remains in place, the hospital administration confirmed.
Dr Asim Hussain addressed the media today, stating that while President Zardari’s health is progressing positively, there are no changes to the restriction on visitors.
The hospital staff continues to maintain constant communication with the president’s family, ensuring they are fully updated about his condition.
Zardari was admitted to the hospital in Karachi on April 1, following a sudden deterioration in his health. Prior to this, he had been shifted from Nawabshah to Karachi after his condition worsened.
Dr Asim Hussain confirmed that Zardari tested positive for COVID-19 shortly after being admitted.
“The president is receiving excellent medical care and his condition is improving steadily,” he said during the briefing. “We are working around the clock to monitor his health, and his family is in touch with both him and the medical team.”
The former president’s family has been kept well-informed about every aspect of his treatment, with updates shared regularly. Despite the positive signs of recovery, the hospital has insisted that the ongoing ban on meetings will continue for the time being.
Dr Asim is scheduled to provide further details on Zardari’s health during a media briefing at 3:30 pm today.
