Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez is going through a heartbreaking time as her mother, Kim Fernandez, passed away on April 6, 2025, after suffering a stroke.
Kim had been admitted to Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai, since March 24, where she remained in the ICU for 13 days before succumbing to her condition.
Jacqueline was scheduled to perform at the IPL 2025 opening ceremony in Guwahati on March 26, but she cancelled her performance immediately after learning about her mother’s critical health condition. She stayed by her mother’s side throughout her time in the hospital, visiting frequently and supporting her family.
Her team confirmed the tragic news on X (formerly Twitter), requesting privacy during this difficult time. The funeral and last rites will be held in a private ceremony, attended by close friends and family only.
Kim Fernandez, who had Malaysian and Canadian roots, previously lived in Bahrain with her family. She had suffered a stroke earlier in 2022 as well. Kim met Jacqueline’s father, Elroy Fernandez, a Sri Lankan native, in the 1980s. Jacqueline is the youngest of four siblings.
In an earlier interview, Jacqueline had spoken fondly of her mother, “My mom always supported me. I miss her a lot. My parents are my biggest strength.”
Jacqueline was last seen in the action-thriller Fateh alongside Sonu Sood. Her upcoming projects include the star-studded comedy Welcome to the Jungle and the much-awaited Housefull 5. For now, she is taking a break from work to be with her family and mourn the loss of her mother.
