The Punjab government has imposed an immediate ban on the use of hose pipes across the state as part of urgent water conservation measures in the face of mounting drought worries.
Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh, Director General of the Environmental Protection Department, issued the notice restricting the use of hose pipes for a variety of activities, including residential vehicle washing and water spraying.
"The prohibition extends to government offices and commercial buildings throughout Punjab province," Dr. Sheikh revealed in an official statement. "The ban takes effect immediately."
Environmental officials have warned that people who violate the new restrictions would face severe consequences. The limiting move comes as authorities underscore the need of water conservation in light of drought projections.
Water experts have expressed growing worries over Pakistan's water security, with Punjab, the country's most populated state, experiencing unique issues due to shifting climatic patterns and rising demand.
The Environmental Protection Department intends to create monitoring methods to guarantee compliance with the new standards in residential areas, government buildings, and commercial districts.
This development is the most recent in a succession of water conservation efforts being adopted throughout Pakistan as officials try to solve rising resource management concerns.
