Islamabad United outclassed Multan Sultans in the seventh fixture of the PSL X at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, with a commanding batting display and a decisive four-wicket haul from all-rounder Jason Holder.
The encounter commenced after a delay of thirty minutes due to a wet outfield. Multan Sultans, led by Pakistan’s ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan, won the toss and elected to field first.
Shadab Khan’s Islamabad United posted 202 for six in their allotted twenty overs, after being asked to bat. The opening duo of Sahibzada Farhan and Andries Gous added 45 runs in 4.4 overs, before Gous departed for nine, dismissed by David Willey.
Farhan then built a 35-run partnership with Colin Munro for the second wicket. He top-scored for United with a 36-ball 53, featuring seven fours and two sixes, before being dismissed in the ninth over.
Munro contributed a quick 48 off 25 balls, which included four fours and three sixes, before losing his wicket in the sixteenth over.
Following Munro’s dismissal, returning batsman Haider Ali and Holder added 49 crucial runs for the sixth wicket. Haider struck three fours and two sixes to register 33 runs from just sixteen balls.
For the Sultans, Chris Jordan took two wickets for 41 runs in four overs, while Willey, Usama Mir, and Ubaid Shah claimed one wicket each.
