Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir honoured officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army for their exceptional bravery and distinguished services to the nation during a grand ceremony at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
The ceremony also marked the posthumous recognition of the martyrs, with their families receiving medals in tribute to their sacrifices.
In his address, General Asim Munir emphasised that martyrs and ghazis are the pride of the nation, asserting that their respect and honor are sacred to every Pakistani.
"The peace and freedom that we enjoy today are the direct result of the sacrifices made by these brave sons of the soil," said the Army Chief, underscoring the invaluable contributions of those who have laid down their lives for the country.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Munir awarded prestigious military honors, including the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-e-Bisalat, to officers and soldiers who demonstrated exemplary courage in the line of duty.
The martyrs’ families were presented with the medals, with many visibly moved by the recognition of their loved ones' sacrifices.
COAS expressed deep admiration for the families of the martyrs, acknowledging their resilience and strength. "The courage displayed by the families of our martyrs is a testament to their unwavering love for the country.
Their spirit shines as an example of patriotism," General Munir said. He further praised their indomitable resolve, calling them an integral part of the nation’s fabric.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of senior military officials, along with the families of the awardees and martyrs. The event was a solemn occasion, marking a collective tribute to the selfless service of Pakistan's armed forces and the sacrifices of their families.
During his address, General Munir also lauded the relentless efforts of Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in countering terrorism, acknowledging their significant role in the fight against extremism.
"Through their tireless commitment and courage, the Pakistan Army and LEAs have thwarted numerous terrorist threats, ensuring the safety and security of the nation," he said.
