Israeli police arrested Arab-Israeli actress Maisa Abdel Hadi for allegedly expressing support for Hamas' attack on Israel through a social media post.
She was taken into custody on suspicion of "incitement to terrorism" over her social media remarks.
In her social media post, she posted an image of a bulldozer breaching the fence between the Gaza Strip and Israel during an attack on October 7.
In the same post, she wrote, "Let's go Berlin-style," in reference to the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.
Hadi also shared images of an 85-year-old woman, Yaffa Adar, who was taken hostage by Hamas, with laughing emojis.
The police confirmed her arrest as an "actress and network influencer" from the city of Nazareth, with suspicions of "expressions of praise [for terror] and hate speech."
Hadi's attorney, Jaafar Farah, stated that she was accused of supporting terrorism. She faced criticism from her Israeli co-star, Ofer Shechter, who accused her of betraying them.
Similar cases include that of Dalal Abu Amneh, a singer and influencer from Nazareth, who was held in police custody for sharing a photograph of the Palestinian flag with Arabic text, which was interpreted by Israeli officials as a call to arms.
Members of Israel's Arab minority and Palestinians in East Jerusalem have faced consequences such as being fired, expelled from colleges, and jailed for expressing solidarity with Gaza residents on social media since the beginning of the conflict with Hamas.
Maisa Abd Elhadi was born on November 15, 1985 in Nazareth, Israel. She is an actress, known for The Reports on Sarah and Saleem (2018), Habibi Rasak Kharban (2011) and Huda's Salon (2021).
