Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Friday condemned Indian actions on Indus River.
Addressing a rally held in Rohri, the former foreign minister issued an unequivocal warning to the Indian government during a rally held in Rohri, stating, “The Indus River is ours. Whether our water flowed in it or their blood, the plundering of Sindh remained unacceptable.”
Bhutto-Zardari, forcefully denounced India’s unilateral actions concerning the Indus River and rejected the cancellation of the Indus Waters Treaty.
He declared that the international community would never endorse India's decision, saying that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s move had already met the fate of a previously failed canal project.
Bhutto-Zardari accused India of concocting lies against Pakistan in a bid to conceal its own shortcomings. He emphasised that India’s baseless allegations held no credibility and would not deter Pakistan’s resolve.
Bhutto-Zardari praised the determination of the Pakistani nation and acknowledged its unity with the armed forces in countering India’s provocations. “The brave nation would deliver an appropriate response to India alongside the Pakistani army,” he said.
He further that a consensus had been achieved with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif following protests led by PPP workers across the country.
“I met the prime minister yesterday. The PML-N and the PPP agreed that no canal would be built without your consent. This was a victory for the people, which would not have been possible without the struggle of the PPP workers,” Bhutto-Zardari stated.
The PPP chairman confirmed that the federal government had convened a meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI).
He announced, “God willing, on May 2, we would resolve this issue forever. There would be no violation of the water agreement.”
