In response to recent Indian aggression and what Islamabad described as "baseless allegations" against Pakistan, authorities expelled 23 Indian nationals associated with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 broadcast operations.
The Indian citizens, employed by a company managing broadcasting services for PSL 10, were escorted to the Wagah border under strict security arrangements. They were subsequently repatriated to India.
Police sources said the move followed clear instructions from the Pakistani government, directing Indian nationals working in the country to leave immediately. The decision comes amid rising tensions between the two neighbours after a series of diplomatic and political exchanges.
Speaking to reporters, a senior police official, requesting anonymity, said: "The government had issued immediate instructions regarding the departure of Indian citizens linked with the PSL broadcast. The orders were executed promptly and without incident."
Sources said the Indian staff had been engaged in technical and production-related roles during the ongoing cricket tournament. However, following the government's directive, their services were abruptly terminated.
Earlier this week, Islamabad had accused New Delhi of "propaganda and baseless allegations" aimed at undermining Pakistan’s internal stability. In reaction, the government decided to review the presence of Indian nationals working across various sectors within Pakistan.
No official statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been issued regarding the impact of the expulsion on the PSL broadcast operations. However, insiders indicated that contingency plans were being put in place to ensure uninterrupted coverage of the tournament.
The removal of the Indian staff highlights the growing diplomatic strain between the two countries, with sporting events once again caught in the crossfire.
