Quetta Gladiators secured a resounding 10-wicket victory over Multan Sultans in the 18th match of the tenth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday.
In the fixture hosted at the Gaddafi Stadium, Quetta Gladiators won the toss and opted to field first, a decision that yielded immediate rewards.
The Sultans' batting line-up faltered under pressure and collapsed for a paltry total of 89 runs in 17 overs. Only one batter stood firm against the relentless Gladiators' bowling attack.
Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan of the Sultans remained unbeaten with an innings of 44 runs and achieved a historic feat by becoming the first player in PSL history to carry his bat through an innings.
However, aside from Rizwan, no other batter managed to reach double figures, as nine players fell cheaply and failed to resist the disciplined bowling effort from the Gladiators.
Quetta Gladiators' bowler Khurram Shahzad delivered a standout performance by claiming four wickets. He received support from Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Wasim, who took 2 wickets each and ensured Multan’s early collapse.
In response, the Gladiators chased down the modest target of 90 runs with remarkable ease, completing the victory within just 7 overs and without losing a wicket.
Opening batter Finn Allen led the run chase with a rapid 45 runs, while captain Saud Shakeel contributed a composed 42 runs, steering their side to an emphatic triumph.
