The Pakistan Army, with the aim of promoting irrigation systems, has successfully restored the Marwat Canal in Lakki Marwat with the assistance of Pak Army.
In the past, this canal played a pivotal role in supporting the agricultural activities of the tribes living in Lakki Marwat, leading to their economic progress.
However, due to the canal's dry conditions, farming in Lakki Marwat suffered, resulting in increased poverty and the rise of terrorism in the region.
Along with Pakistan Army's efforts, the Marwat Canal Project has been completed in short time.
This project will benefit not only the 70% population of Lakki Marwat but also 30% of the Bannu district, as it will provide water to a catchment area of 170,000.
The canal has been opened for a one-week observational period, during which it will be used for the irrigation of the rabi crop.
This will provide economic assistance to the local people, particularly in the agriculture sector, and help in curbing terrorism in the area.
The local administration and residents expressed their gratitude to the Pakistan Army for the successful completion of the Marwat Canal project.
