After an alleged attempt by Afghanistan to build posts on Torkham border on the Pakistani side and a deadly terrorist attack in Chitral, Islamabad has conveyed its serious concerns to the Kabul authorities.
The Afghan charge d’affaires met with Pakistan’s special representative for Afghanistan Ambassador Asif Durrani in this regard.
Sources said that the special representative informed the senior Afghan diplomat about Pakistan's concerns over the attempt to build a checkpost on the Pakistani side of the Torkham border.
The sources said the establishment of the checkpost was deemed occupation of the Pakistani territory.
Pakistan conveyed is clear stance that the country cannot hand over their territory to anyone in any case.
The Afghan official was also conveyed that their soil was used in the recent terrorist attack in Chitral in which four Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred.
Afghan Charge d’Affaires Sardar Ahmad Shakib insisted on reopening the Torkham border that has been closed for trade since the attack.
He insisted that people on both sides of the border were concerned over the closure of Torkham.
Mr Durrani indicated at the early opening of the Torkham border, the sources added.
They also said that after the firing incident, the Afghan side stopped the construction of the checkpost.
Reportedly, the Pakistan side also conveyed its concerns to Afghanistan over the huge amount of weapons, believed to have been left by the NATO and Afghan National Army forces, being used by terrorists in the country.
The interim Afghan government was asked to fulfil its obligation and check the use of its soil for cross-border terrorism.
On Thursday, four soldiers were martyred and 12 terrorists killed when a large group of assailants equipped with modern weapons attacked two military checkposts close to the Afghan border in Chitral district’s Kalash area.
