The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) postponed its general council meeting on Wednesday due to the threats posed by smog in Punjab.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), PML-N Secretary Information Marriyum Aurangzeb announced that the PML-N’s meeting had been postponed. ‘’The party’s general council meeting was scheduled to take place on November 11,’’ she added.

The former information minister said that the new date for holding the meeting will be announced soon.
‘’The meeting had been postponed on the instructions of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif as a step to follow the government’s instructions in line with stopping the increase in smog,’’ Aurangzeb maintained.

– Measures to control smog –
The government had imposed a health emergency and a smart lockdown to control the smog in the province.
In connection with the smart lockdown, the Punjab health department issued a notification for Lahore and other cities.
Apart from Lahore, the notification had also been issued for Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Narowal.
The mobilisation of the people will be limited by the public and private transports in these cities.
However, tandoors, bakeries, grocery stores, and department stores will be opened for the people. The chicken and meat shops, e-commerce, postal, and courier services’ offices will remain open.
The departmental stories will only keep the departmental and pharmacy sections open.
