Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said on Thursday that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had no authority to level allegations against the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
Speaking to the media, Abbasi said: “The PPP was part of the coalition government, whether it was delivering or not.’’
“I will be there if PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif calls me,” Abbasi said.
– Legal spectacles for economic prosperity –
Abbasi on Tuesday while expressing his perspective on the ongoing case against him, stated that the case against him had concluded, but was reinstated by the previous chief justice before leaving office.
Speaking to the media outside the NAB court, he expressed concerns about the resumption of court appearances related to the LNG case and drew attention to the plight of individuals who brought significant investments in the country, totaling Rs 2 billion and Rs 2000 billion.
The former PM said despite their contributions, these individuals found themselves entangled in legal battles with anti-graft watchdog and argued that to attract more investment to the country, such legal proceedings and spectacles needed to come to an end.
Abbasi highlighted the paradox where individuals who had invested billions were now facing accusations and legal hurdles, hindering their ability to continue contributing to the country’s economic growth.
The PML-N leader went on to emphasize the importance of creating an environment conducive to investment, asserting that the ongoing legal battles were detrimental to Pakistan’s economic prospects. He urged an end to these spectacles, stating that playing politics should be confined to politicians and not extend to bureaucrats and investors.
