New Zealand Cricket has named a 15-member provisional squad for the 2023 World Cup. Kane Williamson will return to lead the squad, with Tom Latham as his vice captain.
The squad includes all of New Zealand's top ODI players, including Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Mitchell Santner, and Jimmy Neesham.
The blackcaps have never won the World Cup, but they have been runners-up in the last two editions. They are currently touring England for a four-match ODI series that stands at 1-1.
They will play England again on October 5, in the World Cup opener in Ahmedabad.
New Zealand have a strong squad with a good mix of experience and youth. They have a world-class bowling attack and a batting line-up that is capable of scoring big runs.
They have also been playing well in recent years, reaching the final of the 2015 and 2019 World Cups. If they can avoid injuries and get their combinations right, they will be one of the favourites to win the title in 2023.
New Zealand Cricket released a heart-warming video to introduce the members of the provisional squad for the 2023 World Cup.
The video featured the players being introduced by their "number 1 fans" – their partners, their children, their parents, and their grandparents.
