Bangladesh batter Najmul Hossain Shanto will also lead his side in one-day internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 internationals (T20Is) during their upcoming tour of New Zealand next month.
The tour, scheduled between December 17 and December 31, will include three ODIs and three T20Is.
Najmul, currently captaining Bangladesh's Test side in a home series against New Zealand, steps into the new roles in the absence of regular limited-overs captain Shakib Al Hasan. Shakib is not available for the series as he has ventured into politics, contesting the upcoming general election on January 7 as a candidate of the ruling Awami League.
All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz will serve as Najmul's deputy for the white-ball tour of New Zealand. The squad for the New Zealand ODIs sees the return of batsman Liton Das and includes the addition of uncapped left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan.
