Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, talking to the media, clarified that the PTI will not boycott the upcoming general elections.
He said the Peshawar High Court (PHC) has stopped the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from taking final action on the intra-party elections.
“If the case was not filed in the High Court, the Election Commission would have changed the symbol of the bat, which is not acceptable in any case,” Barrister Gohar said.
The ECP has summoned Barrister Ali Gohar on December 12th. “Good hopes are attached to the judiciary,” he added.
He said: “Left with no other option in view of successive adverse orders by ECP, petition before Peshawar High Court was filed in Intraparty Election matter and consequential allotment of election symbol (Bat). PHC was pleased to restrain ECP from passing final order. Alhamdulillah. We hope election will be held and on ballot paper ‘bat’ will be our symbol.”
