Rana Sanaullah, senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and former Interior Minister, recently made striking remarks aimed at retired Chief Justice Jawad S. Khawaja.
The PML-N leader’s comments were sparked by Khawaja’s objections regarding Justice Tariq Masood’s inclusion in the Supreme Court’s bench overseeing the trial of civilians in military courts.
In a tweet, he accused Khawaja of attempting to favor national criminals by raising objections against the judicial process. He labeled Khawaja’s move as a dubious attempt to use his influence to divide the higher judiciary, particularly in cases concerning civilians facing trials in military courts.
The former minister emphasized that individuals involved in the May 9 incident are not just criminals in the eyes of the law but also represent a threat to the nation.

He firmly stated that such offenders do not warrant any leniency, implying that Khawaja’s actions aimed at providing relief to these alleged criminals would not find public approval or support.
