Iran executed a man on Saturday who had been sentenced to death for collaborating with Israel's intelligence services, according to the judiciary.
The execution took place in Zahedan prison in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchistan.
The individual, whose identity was not disclosed, was convicted of intelligence cooperation and espionage for Israel.
Additionally, he was found guilty of collecting and providing classified information to the Mossad spy service to disrupt public order, as per Mizan Online.
The details of the man's arrest and trial remain unclear. Iran has previously announced the arrests of alleged agents working for foreign countries, particularly Israel.
In December 2022, the country hanged four individuals convicted of collaborating with Israel's intelligence services.
Iran and Israel, longtime regional foes, do not recognize each other, engaging in a shadow war for years.
Tensions between the two nations involve accusations from Tehran regarding Israel's sabotage attacks and assassinations targeting Iran's nuclear programme.
Meanwhile, the United States and Israel accuse Iran of using drones and missiles to target US forces and Israel-linked ships in the Gulf.
Iran's human rights record has faced criticism, with reports from groups like Amnesty International indicating that Iran executes more people annually than any other nation, except China.
A November report from the Norway-based Iran Human Rights group highlighted that the Islamic republic had executed over 600 people in the current year, marking the highest figure in eight years. Executions in Iran are typically carried out by hanging.
