Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Ministry of Interior admitted for the first time that during the last year, around 40 terrorists of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were arrested across the country.
Afghan media quoting Abdul Mateen Qani, spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior said: "We have a large number of ISIS prisoners and about 35 to 40 TTP terrorists are in our custody."
Tolo News said TTP terrorist arrests were made possible by the information provided by Pakistan about the secret hideouts of TTP terrorists. Pakistan's foreign office demanded that the interim government of Afghanistan take strict action against the militants on its soil.
“Afghanistan shall take all necessary measures to prevent the continued use of Afghan territory for terrorism against Pakistan,” MOFA said.
Afghan media reported that the Islamic Emirate has reiterated that the current Afghan government will take immediate action if any evidence is found about the TTP.
Experts said that the impact of the arrests of a handful of TTP terrorists on Afghanistan-Pakistan relations is ‘uncertain’ and if Afghanistan seriously solves this problem, the relations between the two countries may improve.
