The special court of the Official Secrets Act has rejected the post-arrest bail applications of PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case.
Judge Abul Hasanat Zulqernain had reserved his verdict a short while ago after the parties concerned completed their arguments.
During the hearing, Special Prosecutor Shah Khawar asked for unauthorized persons to be removed from the courtroom or they should be asked to take an oath. He said the hearting is in-camera and PTI lawyers make videos.
The judge ordered the irrelevant people as well as journalists to leave the courtroom.
PTI lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat completed arguments on the bail petition.
The PTI lawyer argued that the safety of any document coming into the PM House is not the responsibility of the prime minister.
It is the job of the principal secretary, he added.
Earlier, the Official Secrets Act court of Islamabad approved PTI leader Asad Umar's pre-arrest bail in the cipher case. The court directed Asad Umar to deposit a surety bond of Rs50,000.
The court declared in the judgment that despite Asad Umar’s wish, the prosecution did not include him in the investigation.
If his arrest is required, the FIA should inform the suspect first, the court ruled.
